I work in the school office and am also a qualified TA so I am able to help out in class if and when needed. I also work as a midday assistant and see to injuries during the lunchtimes. My daughter came through our school and is now at Penketh High.

I am a keen walker and have 4 dogs at home who keep me active. I  volunteer at a kennels where rescue and retired greyhounds go before rehoming. I used to live in Devon and grew up in and on the sea! I had a career as a diamond mounter when living in Rochester but made the decision to work within a school environment when I moved to Penketh and absolutely love it.

I have worked at Locking Stumps Primary School for 10 years and became the Headteacher in January 2013. I am a passionate Manchester United fan and have now held my Season ticket for 25 years! I attend all home games.

I love camping with my husband Gareth, who is a music teacher specialising in African drumming workshops. I spend a lot of my time with my friends and family; walking, camping and generally having fun!

Angela has been the Headteacher here for 7 years.

Angela is a keen Warrington Wolves fan and attends home matches.

Graham Gowland - Co-opted Governor

Link Governor for Forest Schools

Appointed in June 2015

I have a background in Health and Safety/Risk Management which is invaluable for a member of the Governing Body. With a young family in primary education I also have a good understanding of parental concerns and am keen to see the school continue to progress. With 2 dogs, a caravan and a love of the outdoors, I'm pleased to be the Forest Schools link Governor.

Maureen Mellor - Chair of Governors - Local Authortiy Governor

Link Governor for Safeguarding and Assessment

Appointed in April 2012

I am originally from Manchester but have lived in Widnes for more than 40 years. I spent my working life in further education and was the Principal of a large further education college before retiring in 2011.

Since  retiring I have been using my education expertise as a school governor.  I am a governor of a secondary school and adult education organisation as well as being the Chair of Governors here at Penketh South.

I enjoy spending time with my young grandchildren, running, walking, reading, theatre visits and visiting France.

I have really enjoyed getting to know Penketh South School and its children and staff. I am always impressed by the children's good behaviour and enthusiasm and by the staff's dedication to do their best for all the children. I am sure that with everyone's support the school will go from strength to strength.

*Other governorships: Rainhill High School, Blackburne House Group

I am a mum of 2 young boys so have an understanding of parental views and concerns.  My favourite thing to do is to spend time with my family.  I also enjoy reading and going on holidays.

I have been involved in the life of Penketh South for over 10 years. My daughter previously attended the school and I first joined the Governing Body as a parent governor back in 2007.

I am now a co-opted Governor and, as well as being Vice Chair, I am a member of the Standards and Curriculum Committee and a link governor for assessment and progress. I am especially passionate about ensuring that all the pupils at the school achieve their potential in a safe, supportive and happy environment.

My professional background is marketing and I currently work in the university sector in the area of Student Recruitment and Admissions.

I have a keen interest in music and enjoy attending concerts and the theatre. As a member of the National Trust one of my favourite past-times is to visit the historic buildings and gardens as well as walking in the many areas of outstanding natural beauty.
